After owning the system for 6+ years now, i just stopped working. It is connected to my PC and LCD-TV on 5.1 input channel. I was listening to music, when I heard a 'strong click' (may be spark) sound (most likely inside the reciever) and there was no more suound from speakers.
I will explain further here the situation.
There is display as normal on the reciever. I can select different inputs from function knob...but no sound on any channel.
There is no sound in speakers, but subwoofer has sound, I can feel that by raising the volume.
Is it a something which can be reset? or fuse ? protection mode?
thanks for reply
There are 4 blue relays in the unit that has solder points that will crack over time.
It´s fairly "easy" to re-solder them and viola, it´s OK again.
open the cover (unscrew and take of the hood) and locate the 4 blue relays.
Unscrew and remove the bottom service plate and locate the soldering points for the 4 relays.
Each relay has 6 solderings, 4 in one "groop" and 2 in one "groop" look especially at the "2-groop" these are the ones most likely to crack over time ( fSTR-DB840 no sound in speakers - 3436d08.jpgars or so).
Re- solder. Best of luck //Ronnie Stockholm
Definitely saved my STR-DB840 - purchased open box from C-field outlet June 2001. Got both A and B channels back.
Now just got to see how long the relays themselves will last...
I did the same and all is good now(2019 and still working), thank you
Here are the 4 relays in "2-groop" location in pcb image, just in case
Could you please re post the pictures Seem that they ;re removed somehow....Thank you in advance

unit is wired correctly and functioning aside from sound coming from speakers. Speakers are fully functional and correctly connected
