I have tried to download itunes version 8.0 several times and every time I open the program after, I receive the following message: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes. But as I mentioned re-installing hasn't helped. I know that I have used previous versions without a problem, so I am not sure what to do? Can anyone help so that I can burn CD's?

Good
news!!!!I have had the same problem as you and have been dealing with
it the last 2 days-uninstalling itunes,quicktime and then reinstalling
and installing gearproduct download??Anyway to make a long story SHORT:
1. Do a search for a file -GEARAspiWDM.inf in C drive
2. Right click and install
3. Reboot the computer
4. itunes should be working without the error-I hope, it worked for me!!!!!!
good luck, K
This worked for me as well. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very easy!

I recently had the same problem. Try installing the GEAR driver.
Try installing the GEAR driver.
I tried this solution and my iTunes started recognizing the CD/DVD drive once again.
See cambunctious solution no.1 - download of updated Gear Software drivers.
Having deleted the existing registry filters, I also needed to re-create an UpperFilters multi_sz registry entry with the value GEARAspiWDM followed by a carriage return.
Warning: Do not try to edit your registry unless you really know what you are doing - one misplaced entry can trash your copy of Windows.

Type Regedit and go Here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then Find NoInstallClass and Modify its Value to the number "1" without quotes.
Then Find SilentInstall and Modify its Value to the Number "1' without quotes as well. The error should be gone!

Thanks for asking... I tried that and no luck... :(
This problem seems to be a driver conflict issue: when I installed powerdvd to my system my dvd drives disappeared. Microsoft website recommended deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry. This worked but then I got the itunes error message. After importing itunes filters back into the registry then the drives disappear again. There doesn't seem to be a fix when they share the same filters it the registry! I think this conflict needs to be addressed by Apple or Microsoft, unless there's a way to work around it.
same problem, have uninstalled, reinstalled, fixed, installed alternate CD writing software and am about to install the gear drivers - which are recommended in an old itunes fix for this problem (http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/driv...).
Note to anyone who suggests uninstalling, reinstalling, turning off AV or some other equally meaningless and useless activity - please put your left hand in the nearest desk draw and kick it shut as hard as you can. If you dont know the answer then dont offer up guesses - its a waste of everyones time.

registrry settings used by itunes driver for importing and burning is missing.
Change the registry values “ When I went to the registry entry, there was not an entry for Upper Limit so I added one, as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
I created a new “Multi String Value” within this key (very important to select Multi String Value).
I named it Upper Filters, and then double clicked it to add the GEARAspiWDM text WITH a carriage return
when loading i tunes the following message appears. The registry used by i tunes drivers for importing and burning cds & dvds are missing.I have tried re installing i tines but this did not work! Any ideas?

Same issue here...
I've downloaded and installed the latest Gear drivers (no resolution)
I added the "UpperLimit" registry entry (this kept windows from recognizing my CD and DVD drives "a bit more important to me than iTunes" so I changed it back)
Can Apple just fix their software rather than thousands of their iTunes users having issues?
Or do they prefer making Microsoft users experience issues?
