Wont recieve fax

I instruct my office to fax me a documet, the ready light flashes on andoff. The menu bar says "incoming call" , after 15 seconds the menu bars says no fax detected. I checked the menu and found the fax routing faxes to the PC. I unplugged the pc cord, went into the menu and changed the setting to not send faxes to pc. but still will not recieve faxes. Checked tofind that the data line was connected to the data port. would like to reset machine to original factory default settings. Also, just moved to new house, was working fine before the move. gene

I have the same problem, but only intermittently. I generally am able to receive faxes, but occasionally I'll hear the fax get ready to receive, but the when I check, nothing has happened. The printout says "no fax detected". I am not sure I want to try the NVRAM init and erase all my settings, especially since I seem to be receiving about 90% of the incoming faxes. Any other ideas to try?

I have exactly the same problem: lots of printouts for fake incoming faxes...

Data light keeps blinking, when I turn off and turn back on it stops. Wont let me stop job, after fax has already been sent.

So... I tried this method and the screen doesnt change. Nothing happens at all actually, Im not sure why. Is there anyway, other than having someone send you a fax to see if you are receiving faxes?

How to recieve a fax on the Canon PIXMA MX340 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer

Take your incoming phone line and plug it into the place that says "line" on your fax machine. Plug another phone cord into where it says "phone" and connect this to your telephone. Test to make sure you have chosen the right places by dialing a phone number to fax to and listen for the dial tone. If you get a dial tone, then you have set it up correctly.

On the fax machine look for the button that says "menu". Push it and use the up and down arrows to navigate the options on the display. Look for fax set up and press "ok" or "enter" on the fax machines keyboard to access this area. Look for "number of rings" and change the fax machine to a number of rings that is less then your voice mail box if you have one. Then close and save your choices.

Have someone send a test fax by dialing your phone number for the line connected to the machine. The fax machine will pick up on the number of rings set and automatically begin receiving and printing a copy of your incoming fax.

You cannot use magic jack.

You can also choose to manually answer an incoming fax if you see that your display on the fax machine says "ringing" or incoming" you can push the "start" button and this will start receiving your incoming fax.

How to fax forward?

You can set your product to forward incoming faxes to another fax number. When the fax arrives at
your product, it is stored in memory. Then your product dials the fax number you have specified
and sends the fax. If it cannot forward a fax because of an error (for example, the number is busy)
and repeated attempts to redial are unsuccessful, your product will print the fax.
If the product runs out of memory while receiving a fax, it will terminate the incoming fax and only
forward the pages and partial pages already stored in memory.
When using this feature, the product must be the one receiving faxes (not the computer) and the
answer mode must be set to Automatic (see Changing how the product answers incoming faxes).
To use fax forwarding
1
Press menu/enter.
2 Use the < or > button to select Fax Setup and press menu/enter.
3 Use the < or > button to select Fax Recv. Setup and press menu/enter.
4 Use the < or > button to select Forward Fax and press menu/enter.
5 Press > to select On or Off and press menu/enter.
6 If you choose to turn fax forwarding on, use the alphanumeric buttons to enter the fax number
where you want the fax to go, and press menu/enter to save your selection.

Not recieving only in memory

My good friend:

The only reason why your unit stops printin faxes is because the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Th e unit will then try to conserve the remaining toner for printing and copying. Follow this steps to program the unit to print all faxes, even with toner low:

When the toner cartridge is nearly empty, the machine shows
the “[Toner Empty]” message and continues printing except
incoming faxes. In this case, incoming faxes are saved in
memory.
However, you can set the machine to print incoming faxes, even
though print quality is not optimal.
1 Press Menu until “Machine Setup” appears on the display.
2 Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Ignore Toner”
appears on the bottom line and press Enter.
3 Press the Scroll button ( or ) to select “On” or “Off”.
Select “On” to ignore the [Toner Empty] message.
Select “Off” to stop printing incoming faxes when the
message appears. This is the default setting.
4 Press Enter to save the selection.
5 To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear.

Be blessed

Fax & Phone sharing the same line

I am not really familiar with your machine, but have worked on faxes for 20 years. Most models are fax, fax/tel, and tel, meaning it is either or, or a combination. The function you seek was on many models with a built in answering machine. As the machine answered, you said in your message to press start now, or leave a message.

I would say, use your *9* solution with phone while you are there, but switch it to fax mode when you leave. Any regular call coming in at that time will not get answered anyway, but faxes would automatically be received. I know it is an extra step, but that would work.

About Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD)
"Distinctive Ring" is a service provided by some telephone service providers. Two phone numbers are assigned to one phone line so that you will hear different ring patterns for incoming phone calls than for incoming faxes. If you subscribe to this service, follow the instructions below to program your All-In-One to use it.
On the X125:
Press Setup once, then press Menu nine (9) times until DRPD appears on the display.
On the X63:
  1. Press Setup once, then press Menu eight (8) times until DRPD appears on the display.
  2. Press Options until you see Learn, and then press Start/Yes.
  3. Dial the phone number that you want to use as a fax number. (Do this from a different phone line, not from the line the fax will be installed on.)
  4. Press Setup.
  5. Press Menu until you see Fax Receive Mode on the display.
  6. Press Options until you see DRPD, and then press Start/Yes. The All-In-One detects the ring pattern and answers all incoming faxes on the second ring.
