Lights flashing on the inside unit Futitsu Split System during operation. What do they mean?

Called Flash Codes. First try turning off everything at the breaker for at least 2 hours and preferably overnight. Turn back on and wait 15 minutes for self test to complete.

What does error message mean on Fujitsu inverter aircon model ASTA30LCC. red operation light flashes on 5 times with green timer light flashing on twice. Can someone please tell me what the fault is?

This is an "Outdoor unit control error" - specifically, a "Current trip error". There is a problem with one or more of the outdoor boards and you will need a tech to diagnose.

If you havn't yet tried it, reset the system back to default and then reset the time etc. also clean the filters

E-5 -Comms Error, check your wiring, remove external pumps. Split/Multi - check volts from terminal N to 3 = 0 - 65 Vdc, Multi V - 4 Vdc terminals 3 and 4

Check your filters. Manual says they need to be cleaned every two weeks under normal operation (and in my case more often during renovations). It seems it may not take much to limit air flow enough for the indoor unit to trip out. Hope this helps.

Had similar problem (ie. 2 green & red flashed followed by 5 red flashes - Fan blowing but not cooling ... I also noted that the outside unit fan wasn't going). Tried restarting several time after waiting only a minute or two after turning the mains power off but with no change. So turned the unit off at the mains power and then fired it up about 2hrs later and it was all working fine.

Current trip error, if you have had a recent power surge try turning the power off for the unit and back on after a couple of minutes to reset the fault. Sometimes this will work if not it mat have a faulty circuit board
