Hi I have this PSP 2000, out of warranty, and the power light stays always orange, even with the PSP off. The weird thing is that if i try to power on the PSP it goes into de main screen and freezes, but if i connect the charger and power on the PSP it works perfectly. I tried another battery and it does the same thing. It charges the battery but the light stays always orange, even in full charge, and the PSP only works normally with the charger plugged in. No custom firmware on PSP. Any ideas?
SOURCE: no power (orange) charge light
Hi there, I am assuming that it was working ok until you tried to charge it then?? I have come across this problem before and you are right about the fuse, there is a fuse on the charge/power circuit that is located in the very top right hand corner of the motherboard, next to where the black power lead attaches to the motherboard - if you repair or bridge that fuse then it will work fine assuming that like I said at the begining it was working before you put the wrong charger in. If you cannot repair that fuse then the console will work fine if you can charge the battery without using that PSP (i.e. another psp or third party external charger) as there is no fuse on the battery circuit as there would not be a surge in power unlike the mains circuit. If you need more information or if this reply is not clear then let me know and I'll get an image of the fuse you need to repair.
SOURCE: Do not get the indicator light saying PSP is charging
we all know if the orange light doesn't come on it means its full charge but in your case its still the same maybe you should go to a mechanic that knows how to fix it or go back to your warranty and say its still the same thats why it is functioning that way is because their is something wrong inside please vote for me cloud_foe :)
SOURCE: psp dont charge
i think its one of 3 things
1. the internal power connector
2. part abxy and power switch circuit board
3. bad battery
SOURCE: I have a PSP that I charged overnight and a orange
Remove the battery.
Plug the PSP charger into the PSP.
Turn it on.
The PSP works with no battery inside.
If you're not getting a green light at all, your PSP has some sort of damaged as it should work while plugged in with no battery inside.
