Shadow Lines Across Screen on Dell P1130 CRT Monitor

My monitor has developed shadow like lines across the screen in the past few days. It is a Dell P1130 running on Windows 2000. The video adapter is a nVidia GeForce2 GTS / GeForce2 Pro. I haven't added or deleted any software. I tried another monitor with the same result. Software conflict? How do I figure out what is going on?

What sort of shadow lines? I assume you haven't just noticed the two horizontal lines 1/3rd up the screen from the bottom and 1/3rd down from the top from the internal stabilizing wires that all Trinitron CRTs have?

Lines and shadows across the screen

I would try it on another PC first, also check the VGA cable connectors at both ends. It can be that the filter caps in the power supply are failing inside the monitor.
If you decide to open up the monitor, please look through my albums so you will have some idead what to look for inside.

I have a Dell P1130 monitor running on Windows 2000 the adapter is a nVidia GeForce2 GTS / GeForce2 Pro. The past few days the screen is almost unreadable. It has dark lines (shadows). I tried another...

Sounds like an adapter problem.

If you have tired mutiple monitors then the card/adapter is the only problem/cause left.

You need to replace the adapter/card or motherboard (if the video is on-board).

There is not other reason. Drivers and updates will not help.

Horizontal lines on Screen

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

Problem with shadows showing on monitor

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this is very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and monitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.

Blurring of images and text

mt, the 6 to 8 lines you were seeing were most likley the prelude to the end of the monitor. If the problem only occurs when the screen saver comes on then I could say the driver maybe being corrupted by a certain screensaver picture or program. When the monitor warms up to a certain temprature the electronics start to fail. You may want to turn off the monitor while your not right in front of it to cool it down and prolong its use.

A thin horizontal line across the screen

I know I have seen thin lines in the past on older CRT monitors, these are usually wires which support the aperture grill. LCD is just a panel so this must be something different. What color is the line? It is probably an error in the scanning process.
