It is possible to receive police calls however you need to know the frequencies before you start and some area,s use a different range than others as well as digital audio if that's the case then it will take a more sophisticated scanning receiver to decode these types of signals.
I suggest you find out what frequencies your local police use than you can decide if your uniden uhf radio will work a great source for finding the local police frequencies is radio reference.com good luck and happy programing.

I have a uniden uh7700nb it showing c03 37 on the led display how do I return the unit to show the UHF channels ie 1 to 40 ?

Hi Clive,

Simple method is to turn off the radio, take out the batteries, and wait for about 15 minutes or longer. Then replace the batteries (making sure they're fully charged), and turn on the set, all being well, the radio will be reset to factory default status.

I hope this has answered your query.

Cheers,
Peter

How to put the police channel on my uniden VH038SX-2NB

Hi Shorty,

Uniden UH038sx-2nb, is the make/model.

Unfortunately, what you have is a designated UHF CB radio, that can't be programmed with frequencies outside of the UHF CB band.
Well, not without stuffing the unit up, anyway.

Why would you want to program police frequencies into a 2-way radio anyway, The fact that police are moving or have moved to digital, means you won't hear anything anyway., so why bother?

That's what radio scanners were used for, until the cops found out, and started changing to Digital mode operations.

I really can't see the point of modifying and most likely destroying an otherwise perfectly working radio.

Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful, but that's life.

Regards,
Peter

How do i find the 6 pre programmed emergency channels on my bc72xlt scanner. i don't have a manual for this scanner. all i have used it for is nascar races.

Repeatedly pressing the HOLD key will advance the unit through all channels and bring up anything that you've programmed into it, and repeatedly pressing the SVC key will advance the scanner through the preprogrammed services (police, fire, marine, etc.). For more information you can download/print your scanner's manual here:

Trouble transmitting & receiving on uhf.

While there might be a multitude of answers to this question. The first would be the radio is in need of repair, or not programmed correctly.

Do you have a list of correct freq's for your area?
Make sure you have the scanner set on the correct mode (am/fm/ct/dc) for the freq's you have programmed. Each area of the country have their own individual freq. so their not stepping on each others transmission.
