You have a motor that has a thermal overload built into it. This is for the dryer's protection. My best guess is to replace the motor. But before you do all that, make sure the wiring is good from the receptacle to the controls in the back of the dryer. It could not have a good connection thus causing this noise.

Whirlpool dryer runs, hums, then quits

Sounds like the motor is on it's last legs. Replace it. But, before paying huge money for a motor and the labor to install it, I suggest that you price a new dryer and compare it to the repair costs. It may still be a little more for a new dryer, but....IT'S NEW!

Splendide 2000S Washer/dryer won't wash/dry. Noise then stops, then dial clicks around endlessly.

sounds very much like the bearing has seized on the drum.
can you turn it by hand?
I'm betting it's either stuck or REALLY stiff

Whirlpool Carbrio dryer buzzing noise while running. Works OK just keeps buzzing off and on while drying. Not a grinding sound.

OK, remove the 2 screws on the front lower kick plate. Run the dryer to see if the buzzing is coming from the motor or from the burner area. Post back your results.

New Maytag dryer model mgdc400vw makes loud humming noise

Weird, try making sure it is level, and make sure your vent pipe aint too long. Tip the cabinet back while running if the noise goes away the damn metal vent pipe is too dang long.

Gas dryer makes loud hum

Sounds like you may have a motor issue, they can get lint trapped inside, and it causes the motor to overheat, and eventually go out. You can remove the top, then the front, and see if thats the problem. Usually, once the motor starts making noise, its time to replace. Right now, the packings in the motor are cold, and once they heat up, they stop making noise, so it could last quite a while.

Kenmore dryer help?

Sounds like motor is stalled. Remove the lint filter, look inside down toward the bottom left corner at the blower wheel. Something may be jammed in the blower wheel. If difficult to see, TURN OFF POWER TO MACHINE, remove bottom access panel. 2 to 3 screws on bottom of panel. Remove lint housing (3 to 4 screws) and inspect blower wheel for debris.
