My mp4 won't start. When I try to switch it on, an UPDATE notice appears and then it goes blank. The PC won't detect it neither and when I try to connect it to the computer the same notice appears. How can I hard reset it?

Error C00D1236 virtually always indicates one of two things:
1) The device is trying to sync hidden files--are there any?
2)
There is licensed media that is being synced, and the license is either
corrupt or has expired. If you have any licensed media, then try going
back to where you purchased it (in an iTunes-like music management
program? In WMP?) and refresh/renew the license.
The bad news is that until C00D1236 is resolved, you can't sync your device.
You can bypass syncing, and directly transfer files, In my computer, the mp3 plaer will be shown as a drive.
Now if one of the two solutions above is not feasible for u, try this:
In case you have a problem to connect your Samsung YP-U2J Mp3 player, you should update Firmware to get it working. The new Firmware may be downloaded from Samsung.com.

keep in mind that if you sync your Mp3 player with a computer that has

I have that kind of Mp3 Player too... that happened to me, but the PC was able to read mine. However, the reason why the message: "Low Battery USB Disabled" appears, is that you still have remaining battery life, but will only last for less than an hour (indicated by low light and red empty battery sign) you have to make sure the Mp3 is completely discharged. (you'll be notified when you turn on the device while it says: "Low Battery") once that it is completely discharged, you can now plug in the USB cable with the device to the PC... if problem persists, check your PC.. can it read the device? Check if a notification balloon appears at the bottom right corner of the monitor screen. It should say, "Found New Hardware... Samsung YP-Z5F..." if it did not appear, try to INSTALL using the Installation CD given when you bought the product. Just insert the disk into the PC and continue on, then when it is already installed and ready for use, plug in the device! This may be a little hard, but this is the only way I know. Feel free to ask me! I am no technician but I know a lot on devices and fine mechanics. Good luck!
