...I've only had it a yr and half, and I am pissed. I've had Ge that lasted longer. Anyways, yes I am dissappointed, cause I like the RCA dog ! My tv turns off and on, when it does stay on, the volume turns up and down, it goes to menue, all on it's own as if someone else is in this house messing with meI've tried unplugging it, tried a differant outlet, and it's too heavy for me to just pick up and carry to the shop, and it would cost me half of what I paid for it to ship it wherever . I thought RCA was a great product. Ha, prove me wrong !
I had an RCA TV that started doing something very similar. It would just go black and the sound would stay on. I did some research and found that there was a component board inside the TV that was notorious for having connections that worked themselves loose. First, I'll give you the quick fix that worked for me. If you give the TV a good whack on the front between the speakers, it would get the display to come up again. This worked for a long time for me. The real fix is to crack the TV open and examine this circuit board to examine what component on the board has a loose component and re-solder that. Most folks would not feel comfortable doing this, but that's when you've got to think if fixing it is going to cost you more than the TV is worth. Good luck.
