Husky 3650 Prtable Generator Bad Stator?

The generator has only been used 3 times for short projects. The last time I started it, The engine began to shake violently and after a few minutes smoke started emitting out of the stator area. Is this common? I get the feeling that the motor is shaking because it isnt spinning the electrical components and is under a load. The engine oil is full.

Honda EG1400X generator produces power but after a short time smoke comes out of generator, seems like rotor is overheating. Is this an AVR problem?

There is a short circuit in your stator or rotor coils wires, coil wire insulation broken down, Try to get the stator or rotor rewired or replaced.

Honeywell 337cc generator 5500 will not start

Try squirting starter fluid and see if the engine tries to start. If it does, then focus on the carburetor. If you're sure the source of the trouble is ignition related, check for good continuity on the coil wires to the other end. If it's a stator operated coil, check all connections from the coil to the stator and make sure you have good clean connections and ground.

3650 generator won't start!!

I assume that the spark plug are good and the gas line is clear. Try to adjust the gas line supply and default engine startup revolution settings try it full half and minimum back and forth it works. Other gen sets requires a mix of oil with its gas, please do it when it is required with exact proportion. Hope this helps. Goodluck.

The generator quit working all of a sudden i'm wondering if it could be a faulty capacitor?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The BSI550 came in 4 model types 0, 1, 2, and 3.

Types 2 and 3 are brushless. I am assuming this is a brushless generator and the following list of parts can cause the unit to suddenly stop working.

1. Capacitor(s) This unit has _ capacitors
Usually when capacitors fail on a brushless generator you first start noticing that when there is a load introduced that voltage changes dramatically. However they can just up and quit.
2. Diode pack
3. Wiring from the capacitor to the stator is damaged.
4. The Varistor in the rotor has failed (this fails because of a short in the rotor)
5. Rotor short or open
6 Stator winding short or open.

My years of experience with brushless generators is the 2 most common failures (other than wiring that happens alot) are the Rotor and the capacitors in that order. Rotors fail out of the blue... capacitors usually do not. Take a look inside the control panel. If you notice that the bottom of the the end cap enclosure looks like someone dripped candle wax in it you most likely have a failed capacitor. I probe the capacitor(s) with one terminal removed watching for a brief spike in resistance on the meter and then it drifts to infinity EACH time the meter leads are reversed. (Good result usually). After that is is on to wiring, Rotor and stator resistance tests.

Older Coleman 3500 Watt generator, sitting for over 2 years. engine starts and runs normally, but no power generated.

there can be many reasons. need more info:
Is it Inverter typr generator?

measure output voltage - anything?
take back cover off generator itself, measure continuity of stator and rotor, and visually inspect windings. You'll find AVR module there too, it may be the reason.
