SOURCE: error 31 lexmark e350d

Possible causes here are;

Most likely, the contacts in the printer not touching the chip properly (hence why it works in another printer). A simple gentle 'tweak' would work in this case.

The other possibility is the firmware version of the (offendig) printer being incompatible with the version of the after-market chip you are using. No solution here, other than trying a DIFFERENT MAKE of chip.

SOURCE: lexmark optra t610 invalid refill error change

The error may not be specifically a toner cartridge problem but may be due to a stuck cover open switch on the printer. Perhaps this article on Error: "Invalid Toner Cartridge" or "Invalid Refill" will be able to determine the root cause of the problem. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/dupj2m. Just make sure you are using a genuine Lexmark toner in the printer. If you need further assistance, you can also contact Lexmark technical support. Thanks.

You have a chip which controls the cartridge.
Get the chip of the old cartridge and change.
The chip is on the top right side of teh cartridge.
    Or put a genuine cartridge.

What do I do after replacing a a new black toner in ricoh aficio mp c5000 and it still says Add Toner Black

Was it a genuine toner cartridge? I bought some aftermarket ink cartridges for my canon. The colour one was OK but the black... The printer kept saying black empty. I put my nearly empty genuine one back and the fault disappeared. Put the copy one in and same result. I bought a genuine black and no problem.
    tip

Why i get black streaks on paper in laser printer prints?

there are some possibilities for this problem. i will explain it. 1) First of all check out if the toner is full ,half or near to empty. There is no exact procedure to check the powder left in the toner without opening the toner.but in one toner there comes about near to 1500 copies.if you have got about 1200 to 1300 copies.then its quite possible that the power left is near to empty so the streaks comes on the paper due to less powder left.many times in this case removing and shaking the toner then reinserting the toner again and checking the printout helps. 2) But if you are sure that toner is not empty then other possibility is.in the toner cartridge there is a aluminium drum.its easily seen in the cartridge.once you remove the cartridge. if that drum is got very much used then due to that drum the streaks appear.fox example.if the drum is new the print is very dark.if the drum gets old the print gets very light or with streaks or faded print. 3) Now if drum and toner powder both are proper and still the problem then its the fault in the printer.in your printer there is some toner powder got spilled out on the inner parts from where the printing paper passes.so when the paper passes from the part where the powder is fallen or got collected then the streaks comes.in this case the printer needs internal cleaning and servicing. 4) but in some cases it has been noticed that internal powder of the toner becomes moist and very hard to come out from the toner for printing.in this case either toner needs to be refilled or toner needs to be replaced.you can get the toner refilled from local cartridge refilling store or local stationery shops dealing in cartridge refillings. The cartridge refilling shops also have the same printer for checking the cartridge.so at the refilling shop it will be confirmed whether the fault is in cartridge or printer.
    This will help. Thanks .

    Cartridges error on a lexmark

Error: "Invalid Toner Cartridge"; Error: "Invalid Refill"; Message: "Change Cartridge"
    Solution
One of these error messages may appear on the printer display immediately after or shortly after a new toner cartridge is installed into the printer. Note: This may not be specifically a toner cartridge problem; the error may be due to a stuck cover open switch on the printer.

To see if the cover open switch is the cause of this problem, open the top front cover and observe the message on the printer's display panel. The display should read Close Door or Insert Cartridge.

If this message is not displayed, the top cover open sensor and switch will need to be replaced. In addition, the printer may have damaged the new toner cartridge. If the cover open sensor is not operating properly, a new cartridge can be incorrectly flagged as a refilled cartridge by the printer. If this happens, the new cartridge will continue to cause an Invalid Refill or Invalid Cartridge error even if you try reinstalling it or installing it into another printer. If this should occur, please contact the point of purchase of the cartridge to find out how to get the cartridge replaced.

Caution: If the cover open sensor is not operating, do not install another new toner cartridge until you have completed the directions below. Inserting another new cartridge can cause that cartridge to stop working as well. Should this situation arise, please take the following actions:

Place the original working cartridge (the empty or near-empty one) back into the printer. This should clear the error message.

Turn the printer off. Doing this will disengage the cover open sensor.

With the printer switched off, open the top lid and remove the old toner cartridge.

Now replace the old cartridge with another new Lexmark toner cartridge.

Power the printer back on. The printer should now read this cartridge as a newly installed toner cartridge and the error should be cleared. The printer and toner cartridge should function properly now, but the top cover sensor on the printer will still need to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty or covered under a service contract, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or your service provider for further recommendations and instructions. Until you can get the cover open switch replaced, remember to have the printer powered off whenever you replace the toner cartridge.

If the top cover switch appears to be working fine, or if you have followed the above steps and your printer continues to post an Invalid Toner Cartridge or Invalid Refill error, make sure you are using a new original Lexmark toner cartridge. A toner cartridge remanufactured or refilled by a third party can cause this error.

To help identify a refilled cartridge, look for the yellow label attached to the toner drum and the body of the toner cartridge. If this is damaged or removed, the cartridge may have been refilled.

If you are using a third-party refilled or remanufactured toner cartridge, it is recommended that you install a new Lexmark brand toner cartridge. Lexmark cannot guarantee the compatibility of any third-party toner cartridges with our printers.

    OR

1 Switch on the Lexmark X83 printer.

2 Lift open the cartridge door at the front of the device, below the scanner unit. The printer automatically moves the cartridge carrier to the correct position.

3 Pull each ink cartridge toward you to unclasp it from the carrier. Lift the cartridge out of the cartridge carrier.

4 Clean the copper contacts on the bottom of each cartridge with a clean, dry lint-free cloth. Use a gentle, circular motion to clean the contacts.

5 Insert the ink cartridges back into the cartridge carrier. Push back firmly on each cartridge until it snaps into place.

6 Repeat each step in this procedure again. Close the cartridge door.

Pls tell me the life time of the developer powder and do I have to use only original toner

Hi, I have not come across any expiry date of toner/ developer and if it is stored properly in a cool dry place, away from sunlight an excessive heat, it works just fine. Re-filling the toner is always cheaper and costs around 1/4th of the new toner price. So, check for the price of new toner and compare. Genuine toner is always better in terms quality and yield. However, refill can work too.
I have refilled/ refurbished toners myself and had no issues. Properly re-filled/ refurbished cartridge would NOT cause any damage to the printer. So, you may get your toner refilled by some good professional and it would work fine. As for Panasonic Workio DP-4530 and similar copiers, the toner comes in a bottle (which is only a container filled with toner powder) and the toner powder is pulled by the toner supply unit of the copier. I am using HP 9065MFP and refilling caused no issues. I usually refill it after proper servicing and use best available powder and it works absolutely fine.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
