Brother has the drivers for most of their printers on their support site. For the HL-2270DW, go to http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2270dw_all . What OS does your computer have? Select your OS and then your language. Click on the Search button.
The Full Driver and Software Package should be the first one listed after the search. This is the version for most users. Just click on the Download & Information link. Then click Download. Look further down the page for the stand-alone drivers.
If you have another driver installed (for example, the Windows USB driver for a locally connected printer), uninstall the driver first. If it's the Brother driver, use the Brother uninstall tool. Otherwise remove the printer in the Devices and Printers Control Panel. (Click Start > Devices and Printers. Right click on the printer and choose Remove.) Then remove the USB cable if connected to the computer. Install the Brother software and then connect the USB cable when prompted to do so.
Note: this download does not include any third-party software that was on the original CD.

Select your Printer model in the drop down list
Click on View Download
Click on eg HL-5250DN Downloads on our Online Solution Center
Click on drivers int he list
Select your operating system eg vista in the list
Select your language eg English in the list
Click on the search button
Click on More information in the first displayed list under Full Driver & Software Package
Click on Download
Save the File under say My Received Files Folder
When download complete
Go to My Received Files Folder
Run the install
Follow these instruction for both printers

I'm not sure what driver you downloaded, but here's a link to the one from the brother website that I was able to find:

Pick the Operating System you are using, and download the driver. The executable files will normally install the drivers for you when ran, otherwise they should include documentation that tells you what you need to do.
