SOURCE: My dryer stopped heating last night, is there an

Yes. Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

My dryer is not heating. what should I check first?

The heating element in the dryer. As long as you don't have to deal with wiring/digital, there are not that many parts to a dryer, barrel, belt, wheel, element, Dryers can last a very long time.

No heat

heating element is bad theirs a place on the back of dryer thats removable and the heating element slides out take it to a place that sales used dryers washers and ect show them your element and tell them what kind of dryer it came out of. For about 20.00 to 30.00 dollors they will give you one. All you need is a screw driver if I remember. A Phillips. My replacement has lasted almost 4 years now.

Electric dryer runs , turns but no heat.

You most likely have a bad heating element. When they break, the ends tend to touch the side of the element housing. This causes a short, tripping the breaker. Remove the back panel and replace heating element.

How do I test for bad thermastat or heating element on GE dryer

well the fact that hte heating elemnt is glowing tells me that all the thermstats are working, i would check for a blockage/restriction in the venting. looking at te diag, its possible that only 1 of the 2 coils for the heate are actually going on, check the coils for continuity( may be a small break that separates when gets hot)
