Friend gave me this tv for free because it wont turn on. said it was working just fine, then quit all of a sudden. when the power button is pressed on the remote, the vizio logo turns from amber to white, the tv clicks, and nothing else happens. im hoping its a simple and not to expensive fix because this tv is much nicer than the one i have been staring at for many years! help!!
Check your inverter board and wires 2 make shure there not arking. then check your six transformers on your inverter with volt meter

Old messages and bcipollina is gonna get to read this resonse twice; sorry-
If it just fails to turn on or ignores the remote, the
main power supply is probably at
fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments,
you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it
stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a
separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core
transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and
mounted vertically to the board.
Before touching anything inside,
especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger
capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.
If you see signs of overheating
such as discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if
you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power
supply and install it yourself.
If there are no signs of heat
damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a
subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more
expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the power supply still may not be at fault since most
are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an
overload.
BTW, from what I have read about Vizio, I think they are close relatives to iLo which was also sold by Wal-Mart.
Quality control anyone?
SOURCE: only vizio light come on then nothing. have to unplug to turn off
there a problem on power side.. chage the ic and the resistor going to ic and check also the signal diode.
SOURCE: 46" LCQ VIZIO WON'T TURN ON ALL OF A SUDDED
For the 46" TV, it sounds like the main board is bad.
For the 50" Vizio: is the LED light on?
SOURCE: my vizio vx32l will not turn on. vizio logo will
The main board has failed. Replace the main board will fix the problem.
By the way, where did you buy the TV? If you have bought it from Costco then try to give them a call to see if it still under warranty.
Hope this will help.

The sp42a is a plasma tv not an lcd. check the psb voltages first then move onto the ymain and buffers.
