I received this used Dell Laptop, Panasonic Toughbook CF-48 and I was uninstalling programs that I will not need. Now when booting it goes directly to a start up screen for windows 2000 professional log in. I don't have any info for logging in on this. It wasn't needed before I started deleting programs. I've tried resetting the defaults on the boot up. No luck. Please help. Thank you for your assistance.

On all Panasonic Toughbook Notebooks,
you must get into the BIOS by pressing
the F2 Function key when you turn on the
Toughbook as it is booting. Press F2 repeatedly.
This must be done in the 1-2 seconds before
Windows starts to load. Then you will see
Touchscreen usually on the 2nd page with the
word "Enable". Simply select enable and press
"Enter" and the choice between enable and disable
will appear. Then select "Disable" with the cursor
and then press Enter. Finally you need to
"Save and Exit" the changes in the BIOS.
That is it. Good Luck to you.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.
I don't know what version of windows your running but try first going into the bios on your laptop and disabling your adapter. Then see if you can boot windows to try and find out if it is a hardware or software problem. If you can boot windows after disabling in bios you have some idea now what to look for. Instructions for how to enter bios should be in your manual for your Toughbook or posted on Panasonic's web site for your machine
