According to the manual, this means that the washer failed to lock the door.
Can someone help us solve the problem please?
Hello washerproble,
You mention the Service Manual good, that has more info then the troubleshooting guide packed in the console of the machine. The TS guide has the schematic which is very handy. Do you feel OK to troubleshoot and try a DIY repair?
I’m an owner and have not experienced your problem but I can simulate the “FL” error on my working FAV6800AWW. Looking at the schematic of this machine the control board wants to see input from either the left or right side lid lock to signal the control board that the “Lid Is Locked”. Can you select Spin only cycle and press the start button … do both lid locks close and lock the lid? If they did and you still take “FL” error you have loss of signaling “Lid Is Locked” form the lid locks back to the input of the control board. Pull the washer power cord from your 120VAC service outlet and try reseating the lid lock plugs into the connector of the left and right lid lock. Maybe a loose plug or corrosion, only one of them needs to work to signal the control board the “Lid Is Locked”. The left lid lock is the important one because of its dual signaling function back to the control board. It has the reed switch in it providing the signaling the “Lid Is Closed “ to the control board which is operated by the lid magnet. If you still take the ”FL” error you would have to start trouble shooting toward the control board to find the loss of “Lid Is Locked” signaling to the control board. The easiest thing to do if you feel the machine is a keeper is to invest in the left lid lock and replace it and see if that gets you back in service. Again only one lid lock is necessary to signal the control board the “Lid Is Locked”. This site has a link to parts just type model number

1.Check wire connections in harness leading from machine control board to door lock mechanism.
2.Check solenoid and door lock enable switch in door lock mechanism.
3.Replace responsible component.
The "FL" is indicating that the door has failed to lock or it locked but the control does not sense the door has locked.
