It prints ok for normal text, black and colour, but if I want to print a picture or if I ask it to highlight text or put a box round text it very often (not always) puts blue lines across the page. It even filled a blank sheet with blue lines once! I've cleaned as much as I can clean... any ideas? IF I have to take it apart, where do I start?

SOURCE: Lexmark X83 printer has streaks printing color pictures (but text is fine)
This is the problem with the cartridge if you brought original Lexmark cartridge you can get it exchanged as the cartridge is nay be defective and the cartridge comes with one year warranty...........................................
Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer
cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you
printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where
the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer
turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document
again to verify that the problem is fixed.
If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print
cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues
with your model:
From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.
