Brine shrimp eggs are used as food for fish keepers, try looking in some aquarium shops. Another good one is "Triops" which are microscopic hatching animals. These can be found in toy shops with little searching. Most egg are hard to hatch right though in an artifical environment, you could look at plants leaves, stem, petals, stamen, anther (bit in the middle) or parts of euthanised creatures i.e. the legs, eyes, and wings for insects.

You turn the light on by LITTERALLY turning the light on it's hinges. It swivels and when the light is in it's downward position (with the little light bulb pointing towards the ground) it is off. When you flip it over (with the little light bulb pointing towards the the veiwing platform) it should turn on.

If you look closely, you'll see the metal-to-metal contact pieces that trigger the light to come on.
