SOURCE: Red Light Flashing 6 times
When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.

Please count Sony KDL-46V3000 standby light blinks as there would be interval of 3 seconds between blinks. Let me know how many times light blinks as its an error code.

I have a KDF E42A10 which is LCD projection TV. If your's is a projection TV then the blinking red light means that the projection bulb needs to be replaced. The access door is on the lower right side, fairly staight forward to remove and bulb costs about $150( varrious sourses can be found online). If yours is a Grand Wega there is a major problem that Sony is denying responseblity for. Check out a report by Googling " MSNBC problems with Sony Grand Wega". Would like to get a clas action going for KDFs.If your TV is not a projection then disregard all of the above and I can't help with your problem.

SOURCE: Blank Screen
I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.
The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.
My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.
Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.
