1) Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
2) Battery removed, Battery Compartment facing you.
Look at the right inside edge. There is a small plastic cover inside the Battery Compartment.
Remove the one Philips head screw, then remove the cover.
Backup battery, CMOS battery, or RTC battery. SAME/same.
(Real Time Clock battery)

1) The + sign to the left of -
ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, and T23 series.
2) The + sign to the left of -
Removing and replacing an FRU.
(Field Replaceable Unit)
3) Left-click right on - 1010 Battery Pack, and 1020 Backup Battery.
Nice to have when you are going to clean that puppy out.
(BUY, and wear an ESD wrist strap. Connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source.
Average price is around $3 to $6)
Also nice to have to upgrade the Processor, and a myriad of other things.

Yep have now reset date and time settings many many times!
I am now down to trying to find how I can check the battery supply is fed to the chip, but have no cct diagram!
FWIW I dual boot fedora9 and XP but that should not be relevant.
