Copy any video file like AVI, MP4, MKV,WMV to USB drive, plug the USB drive and select USB and play it, should play movies

It can't read the files on the USB, wrong format.

" This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.

Insert a DVD movie.
Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse click on the icon for your CD/DVD drive, and click "Explore".
If the hardware is working correctly, you should see a list of files & folders.

Search online for the free 'VLC' software for playing DVD-movies. Download it, and install it, to "play" your DVD-movie.

You need to force the player to the the Top Menu of the disc.
The way to do this is: load disc, wait until it says "Reading Completed" (about 1 minute).

Wait for the PLAY icon ">" to show in the upper right corner (this may take up to 30-40 secs).

Once you see the ">" Hit the STOP button on the remote to get to the player's splash screen.

From the Sharp splash screen Hit the "Top Menu/Title List" button on the remote and wait for the circulating dots and then the disc menu appears.
Play the movie from the menu and you should be good to go.

The specifications of this laptop states that it has a Dual layer DVD R/W drive. This drive can only play DVDs and CDs but not BluRay discs and it can burn single and dual layer DVDs and CDs.

is the model compatible with dual-layer blue ray discs? check the specifications you got with the player if it is not then your problem may be that some of the discs you are playing are dual-layer and the player cant handle it
