Motorola DCT6412 Cable box

Wife and I have been watching tv all night, then, all of a sudden the livingroom hd/dvr box went off and now shows a yellow ring that is going in a circle and '' d1 or dl '' to the right of that. I tried turning the unit off by hand and remote, didn't change. I tried unplugging unit for a couple minutes, still didn't do anything. When I unplugged the cable wire itself for a few minutes and re-screwed it back in the cable would come on for like 10 seconds and shut back off and started the aforementioned issue. We checked the bedroom dvr box and it is ok, the kids room which have basic cable are both fine as well.

i just had insight bring me a new box and the same thing is happening to that box too....The tv shuts off then the box shuts off...then the tv comes back on and the box will come back on..it just continues to

do this over and over...i tried putting the box on another tv and it still does it. The box I had before this one would stop after doing it 3 or 4 times....this will not...now i'm waiting for Insight to bring me another box....I've noticed that this issues starts when a TV program comes on that we have scheduled to record...

Ive seen this before...that may be indicative of an upgrade of the software in the cable box that comes from your cable provider. The best thing to do is plug it back in, let it get the "yellow ring" for a bit, and wait for the upgrade (it make take 10 - 15 minutes). Then things should return to normal... If the condition persists, try to call the cable company.

DCT6412 III DVR Box has inputs but how do I switch to them?

Who is your cable provider? Several providers indicate that the inputs (USB, ethernet and composite video in) are not currently enabled on all DCT6412 set-top boxes.

I wish that I had better news for you.

(note: the component video is only video out to TV or other component.)

I have a Philips DVDR 3575H. using Comcast's

Try this set up-

Use an RCA audio/video cable for this set up (Yellow/Red/White).

Connect from the Video out (Yellow) connection on the back of the cable box to the Video in on the back of the DVR.

Connect the audio (Red/White) cables from audio out connection on the back of the cable box to the "Audio in" on the back of the DVR.

This should still get you a decent picture but not a true HD picture for your recordings.

When you set the timer to record set it to record either E1 or E2 depending on which input you connected the cable box to and ensure that the cable box is tuned to the channel you wish to record.

*** NOTE: If you keep the HDMI cable connected as you have for the cable box and watch normal TV through the HDMI input on the TV you will get HD programming for your general viewing but still have the option to record with the DVR at a lower quality. ***

Good Luck and please rate this solution....

Olevia 242 and Motorola DVR Cable Box switching

Have you tried using component cables instead. One of my Time Warner cable boxes did the same thing using HDMI.

Motorola dvr dct6412 locked channels

Check with your provider to ensure that you are in expanded services, or limited. Because being on limited services the box will lock you out of those channels. If you are in billing for those services and you checked the batteries on your remote and they are good and you get a solid red blink when you change channels not a double blink (indicating that your batteries are dying), Then try power cycling your DVR by, removing the power supply and waiting 3sec then plug it back in. Your box should shut off, turn itself back on, then go into the load screen, then, once the load screen display shows on your tv and on box display, wait for your box to completely load (don't touch nothing until the correct time shows up, meaning that it has completed the load process) Once the process is complete turn box back on and you should have you guide back up and (No Data) on your program schedule(Don't Worry!!) it will populate, with 15-20 mins.

Now try to ch. up and down and see if that fixed the problem. also make sure nothing is blocking the sensor. If all else fails and you changed the battery, called your cable provider and request a box swap, (be sure to watch all your recorded shows because they go bye, bye with the cable guy!)

HDTV goes blank when connected to Fios HD-DVR or Fios DTV recvr.

If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.

I cannot get dvd feed to tv when I connect my jvc

I work for a cable company that has this exact cable box. in our system we choose not to actvate this option. cable companys go to motorola and give them the exact features that they want the box to perform. most cable companys won't have that feature added mainly 1 due to cost and 2 if you have that type of box it probably has on demand available, so they want you to rent a movie then to play it on dvd.in my opinion straight to the tv is better anyway, the less devices you run the video signal through the less problems you will have . all those ports on the back of the box is standard for the 6412, but are not always actvated.

DCT6412 DVR Box

When that happens its most likley you had a power outage and the box reset.  Well kinda reset but not all the way.  You can unplug the power and wait about 10sec and plug it back in and wait a few min to a few hours, and If that doesn't work get a new box.

Connecting HD cable box to DVR too HDTV

When I hooked up my HD cable box using an HDMI cable, I had to go into the cable screen menus and select HDMI output. You may have to do something similar when using an S-video cable. Your DVD recorder doesn't seem to have an HDMI input, so you'll have to use the S-video or (worst case) composite video (red, white, yellow cords). Your cable box may also be scrambling the signal so that you can't record. That may be why you can record by bypassing the cable box.
