ProForm cross trainer 565. Press start it races for a few seconds then stops. The console keeps going as if everything is still working.

The constant humming is indicative that the Start / Run Capacitor on the motor has failed. You will need the model number, but here you go.

If your elliptical trainer does use an electrical outlet for the power supply, unplug your elliptical trainer and then check the power cord. Replace the power cord if it is frayed or damaged . If the power cord is intact and properly connected to the console, then you might have to replace the console when the elliptical display screen is not working.Or the screen could be broken and needs to be replaced.

If the recalibrate doesn't work swap the red and black wires on the incline motor and re plug the treadmill to the wall and let go all the way to bottom. Unplug then remove wires from incline motor and tape off. At least then u can still run on it. But incline feature is no longer an option

I would suggest unplugging the unit from the wall and waiting 30 second and plugging it back in. Then go to where the AC cord enters the machine and look for a reset button or switch. Put it in the reset position and see if this solves the problem. Depending on model the reset may be on the bottom of console.

The treadmill will start on its own. The treadmill will stop on its own after a few seconds. When it stops, press the power key two times. Remove the safety key and put in a safe place. Your treadmill is reset.move on to the next step.
