Panasonic PT-53TWD63, TV will not turn on, Red power light blinks

Last night watching tv, the colors seemed to separate (red, blue) then the picture went out. I tried to power cycle and nothing happened. I also unplugged it for approx 5 min and plugged back in. Hit power button an I could hear the tv turn on, but it would turn off in about 5 sec and the red power button on the front of the TV would flash 3 times go off for about 10-20 sec and then flash 3 times again. This continues until I unplug the TV. I am thinking it is either the CRTs or the bulb for the projector. Any suggestions. Thanks

It is most deffinately a convergence chip issue. The die for no reason. They can be bought online for around $10 dollars and anyone with experience with soldering can replace them pretty easily. I have done it.

Pt-53wx53 Panasonic Projection TV Turns off

OK< likely one of the new chips are bad or when soldered in you shorted pins at that time----3 blinks is short protection and you are going to find ONE of the light blue 2.2 ohm resistors is open (usually discolored in middle).

Having changed hundreds of chips in this model once in a while you get a new one that is bad---replace both again.

How did you get at them----remove the board or pull the light box?

It's one of two things, a bad chipset, or bad lamp. 200-250 repair. Hope this helps

If the power led blinks its an error code such as 3 blinks means convergence failure which is the most common error for your model.Let me know the error code and I will assist you with what you need to do.

It started separating the blue from the red so you see everything in double. and the color is not right

You need the panasonic convergence repair kit #1 which comes with instructions with pictures. Heres a link to the correct kit for your model.

The Power Light is Red

yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.

Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on
