TV switches off when ever it is turned on.

It will sometimes stay on for a few seconds,It then begins to flicker. Some time it will go for days without any troubleshooting. I will turn it off for a few hours. When I restart it up again, It will turn itself off and the trouble starts all over again. Is the switch causing the problem? HELP!!!!!!!!!

No the switch if working fine. It is a momentary contact switch. Check the air vents all around the tv, Vacuum the vents if possible so air can circulate. Next there is a protection circuit built in to the system called to power on self test. if test results are ok the tv will go on. If not the tv may go on but flicker on or off and then no tv.
The power supply board is notorious for failing that way. Some can be replaced most have to be repaired to the component level. Try the Vacuum first before opening it up cause it is a lot of work on the dining room table, There is a small power relay that is located on the power board which actually controls the main A.C. to the whole set. I have seen them intermittent before causing that problem but it has to be soldered in place and a lot of electronic components can be destroyed by just you touching it. Be careful, Good Luck, Bill

SOURCE: My 42HDS69 Hitachi has a recurring problem of not

MY TV KEPT GETTING WORSE EACH DAY ALSO. BUY A CAN OF SPRAY AIR WITH THE EXTENSION SPRAY TUBE. WHEN YOU GET THE TV RUNNING SPRAY THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE BACK RIGHT ONTO THE FAN BLADES OF BOTH FANS. THE DUST WILL FLY OFF THE BLADES. A VACUMM HOSE WILL HELP PULL OUT THE DUST. ALSO SRAY THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD FOR DUST. I APPEARS THE FANS SLOW DOWN WITH DIRT ON THEM AND THE EXTRA HEAT BUILD UP JUST AFTER THE TV IS SHUT DOWN IS CAUSING THE POWER SUPPLY TO BE IN A SHUT DOWN MODE WHEN POWERED UP THE NEXT TIME. BEEN TWO WEEKS NOW AND WORKS PERFECTLY NOW AGAIN.

Repair tv

You didn't say anything about the model or make but a lot of times this comes from bad capacitors...try this...on the open fins on the back of the TV, try putting a blow comb on there and set it on low and leave it there for about 3 minutes, turn the set on and see if it comes right on, if it does there are bad caps on the power board, it could be replaced or you could repair it yourself for a couple dollars

Why is my LCD TV not powering on after resetting to factory settings?

Kindly study the operation manual and follow instructions for installation from the beginning. You may have to switch off the TV manually, switch off power, remove plug, wait for sometime and retry this.

Hello The problem I have with my TV is that sometimes it switches itself into standby mode without me pressing any buttons on the remote, then when I switch it back on using the remote the screen...

Hello,

Its the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.
Hope this help in solving the problem, Take care.....
