Lint on dark clothes in my Whirlpool Cabrio washing maching

I looked for this answer on the Whirlpool site but they said it's from soap residue when using cold water.

My problem is actual lint that I have to take off with a lint roller not white spots from soap residue.

I wash the clothes even using a second rinse and have the same problem.

Thank you.

I have the same problem, and I AM using high efficiency soap. I was using just any detergent, and then I switched to HE and it didn't make a bit of difference. The EPA should be hung for doing this to our washers.

we have tried HE detergent, less detergent, I am getting tired of my wife yelling

These are the very worst set Whirlpool EVER put out. I am soooo diappointed. I always bought Whirlpool and this time om my first kitchen/laundry/Master Bath remodel, I went their high end GOLD oN every single appliance. Within 2 yrs, OTRange Microwave burned up halogen bulbs AND THE HARNESS ASSESMBLY. Guess what, out of warranty and of course, parts no longer available. That started the dominos a goin. Tempered glass oven door, shattered. Exhaust grate on exterior top end of elite Whirlpool Microwave, almost $800.00 in 2003, plastic "snap in pins" just broke no reason. And of course, no longer in stock, no substitutions, no recommendations. Then came the washer. That little nightmare raged on for about 7 months, having to buy & return OEM control Boards, Rotar sensor & its wire harness. At least 3x!!! Eventually, $700 to fix. Im very very disappointed in Whirlpool. Well to them, YOU HAVE LOST A VERY LOYAL CLIENT.

I have the same issue. I've used an HE detergent since I got the washer, run the clean cycle with the cleaning tablets every 28 days, have tried less detergent, and nothing helps the problem. My old washer never had this problem. Seriously regret buying a Whirlpool.

Aha! the problem i'll guess your model number is wtw8200ywo-you have a very bad washing machine-i'm sorry-it does what you say darks are covered withresidue and clothes are very wrinkled-if you are not happy with these issues take it back and get another brand of washer-I have a maytag-maytag was bought by whirlpool-I've had problems with this machine only a year and a half old so probably not a good choice either-Research before you buy and let me know who you come out-cheers Denny

There is still soap residue left on the clothes after the wash cycle ends on my whirlpool cabrio washer

Possible that the Rinse cycle is not timed to fill in enough with water or there is obstruction within the inlet valve. Also if there is too much soap that is dispensed it can remain back after the wash.
check the above and choose a normal program or one which is different from the present cycle.

Dark clothes have lint left on them. what could help this problem?

Are you sure it is lint and not soap? My washer does this, and it looks like lint, but it is soap.
If it is lint, always keep the lint collector inside the agitator clean.

If it is soap, and this might work for lint:
1. Turn clothes, particularly black clothes, inside out.
2. Use a concentrated soap with little or no filler.
3. Use less soap than normal.
4. Fully dissolve soap before adding clothes.
5. Run rinse cycle again after completing full wash cycle.

The lint is not being washed from machine. All dark clothing has lint residue. How can I rectify this problem please? Currently my husband using damp cloth has to wipe over black clothing extensively prior...

the self cleaning lint filter seems to be clogged. before you replace it try this cheap/ easy remedy.
  • run a load with no clothes on high water level, hot water and a gallon or two of bleach.
  •  no soap.
  • do an extra rinse after to make sure you rinse all the bleach away before putting more clothes in.
the lint filter may be defective since it has always had this problem, but its worth a try.

Soap residue on clothes from washing machine

I have the same problem. Can't get soap out my clothes. I have a Sears Kenmore frontload washer. It seems to work fine but something isn't right. Repair man came few days ago & said NOT to use the brands they say "For ALL HE Washers" ALL being the key word. Only use the ones that only say HE. I changed back to Gain instead of Sam's brand, but I still can't get soap out. I really don't think its the detergent. I washed my daughters towels & had soap in clothes after complete full wash was done. I'm lost & have no idea what the problem is or how long its being going on before I noticed.

Lint or soap residue

Sounds more like a build-up of particles that may very well be in the water supply. There is something that you can try to get rid of these particles.

1. With the machine empty start it in normal eash mode and let it fill. Add 1/2 cup bleach to the water and let the machine run completely through the wash cycle. This will help remove any unseen stains or build-up.

2. When the machine drains and begins to refill on the next cycle, add 1/2-1 cup of white vinegar and again, let the machine finish its' cycle.

3. Run the machine through the wash cycle one more time to remove any vinegar that may have been left behind.

This is not a guaranteed method but I have had some success.
