Kenmore upright fridge--freezer door drips when cleaning

I am cleaning my upright frost-free fridge. As the fridge and freezer are warming up, the freezer door starts dripping at both lower corners. It is a slow drip, but it has not stopped after an hour. Why is this happening?

Condensation has formed and frozen behing the door panel. You can live with it, or take apart the panel and dry it out - you may have to replace some insulation. Hope this helps!

Frigidaire frost free upright freezer door corner dripping

Hello Yellow, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is dripping water out of the corner of the door. It is possible that with your power going out the heat may have caused the gasket to warp. Do you see any frost build-up? The water that is dripping could be coming from condensation within the freezer. I would recommend checking the gasket to see if it is allowing warm air to enter the freezer.

I recommend that you visually inspect the door gasket for defects such as gaps or tears. You can also use a dollar bill to test the door gasket. Place a dollar bill in between the door and the body of the freezer. If the dollar bill pulls out with no to little resistance, you may need to replace the door gasket. A faulty door gasket can allow warm air to enter the compartment and cause frost to condensation or a leak. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Admiral upright freezer dripping water inside on top

Hello.
I can help. Once we notice anything different from before we start becoming more aware of small variations. Regarding things on the top shelf warmer than on the bottom, this is always true because, "warm air rises and cold air falls". If you want the top shelf colder turn the thermostat to the next colder setting, always a good idea in the Summer season anyway.

Even though your gasket looks good, a ten year old gasket is not as pliable as a new one resulting in the moisture problem you describe. I would begin by applying a thin coating of vaseline to the gasket once a week for a month. This little trick of the trade will often work. If it doesn't improve the situation do replace the gasket.

Most/many times this is a clogged up or restricted defrost drain system, but once in a while the drain system has been cleaned and everything appears to be good but you still get ice in the defrost drip tray and such and the drain freezes over. Kenmore freezer peeing on my floor

  • if the door was not closed correctly for a while then a lot of condensation will be accumulated on the freezer coils.
  • then when going into defrost it melts this ice/frost and overflows the pan or container under the machine which relies on evaporation to dispel  of the water.
  • empty the pan under the refrigerator if you can, then give it another day, it will get back to normal.
if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.
