try closing your app open apps by clicking left hand button then should come up with your apps what you been on at bottom it should say close app it draining your battery if that does not work you may need a new battery

Well one way through the software.... is to on the desktop right click and go to screen resolution - advanced and set the screen to be off in certain minutes. When you close the nextbook should be off also.
Tablets are designed to not heat up much at all, let alone overheat. If it is overheating, there is a hardware problem that is causing that. If it is still under warranty, get it replaced.
