Question about Samsung LN46D630 46 inch LCD 630 Series TV
I hooked up the Bose solo as the manual directed. I plugged the optical digital audio cable to the correct place on the back of the TV (as shown in the picture in the Bose manual). I then plugged the other end into the optical plug in the Bose solo. I tuned the tv speakers to external. The Bose solo did not give out sound. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you have it set correctly..do you have any other sources than external,(such as audio out) ?If so that should solve your problem...does the system have any other connection outs, such as red white audio cables (LR audio )? You can use them as external when the optical is unplugged...if you get sound you either have a bad optical cord or the output for it is defective..good luck GOD BLESS

SOURCE: best way to connect new system
After trying several ways, we decided the best picture was to run the blue ray (out) directly to the TV (in) with an HDMI and another HDMI from the sat. box(out) to TV(in), then optical audio from TV (out) to receiver (in). This way you don't have to change channels on the reciever when switching from TV to DVD. Remember that HDMI is one cable that supports audio and video. If you are using all Samsung products and want to use one remote, using the Anynet feature, I think it has to be connected with an HDMI. I'm going to try connecting an HDMI too from the reciever to the TV to see if this feature will work. It does with the Blue Ray.

SOURCE: Gurus, I just bought Samsung Home Theater System which i connected to my Hitachi TV with HDMI cable. I have a Optical Cable going from HT to my TV Optical port. I have another connection from my cable
On the remote control for the Samsung Home Theater System look at the bottom left to a button that says "MODE", those moods change the sound each speaker gives off. if that doesn't work, you might need new wiring because there are other wires that are more durable than the ones that come with it, much better too.

If your TV does not have any audio output jacks, you can connect the CineMate™ speaker
system to the audio output jacks of another source, such as a DVD player or cable/satellite
box. However, you will hear sound only from the connected source through your CineMate
