After a wash cycle, the clothes in my Hoover washing machine (HNL 6126) have a grey gooey substance on them. I think the filter needs to be cleaned, but I don't know where it is, or how to take it out! Can you help me please? Cathy
There is no filter on this machine. The gray gooey substance is sludge (dirt) build up inside the tub. This can be caused from using too much detergent or a detergent that is not HE (high efficiency).
You can try running an empty cycle using the hottest water available with products such as "washer fresh", "affresh" or a cup of bleach to remove the build up.
Remember to use a HE detergent and you only need about 2 tablespoons per regular load.
Good luck!
Hi cathy, gey an gooey can be grease from the drum bearing, if the machine empties ok i shouldnt think the filter will be the cause, hope this helps
