You now have a parts TV, a replacement screen will cost more than the set is worth. I would suggest listing the set on EBay or your local Craigslist as a parts unit. If you get offered $40-$60, take the money and run!

SOURCE: screen busted by wii controller

The screen can be replaced. But, it would most likely be cheaper to buy a new TV.
Depending on the screen, if it's for 720 or 1080.
The cheapest I've seen for a 40" 1080 screen was $600. And we're not talking about the labor to install it.
Other places that do have that screen in stock are asking over $1,000 for it.
You could try finding another same model TV that someone is selling and take the screen out of that one.
I wish I had a better solution for you. Sadly, the screen is the most expensive part of the TV.

Will replacing the inner screen of my lcd tv fix the damage done by wii remote? outer screen is not damaged

You need a replacement panel. Most people will not even bother as the cost of a replacement panel could easily exceed the value of the TV

A kid intentionally threw the remote control at the middle of the screen, eventhough it's still working, the part that has been hit is already damaged and only 3/4 of the screen is visible

If the LCD panel has been damaged then the tv is a write off, sorry.

Supplying and fitting a new panel will cost more than buying a replacement tv as it's overwhelmingly the single most expensive component. When you buy a new tv you are effectively buying a flat panel at a huge volume discount and all the other parts which make it a tv are thrown in for free.

The tv rental company I work for is the largest such business in the UK and only ever replaces broken panels by cannibalising other tv's which have been returned with other serious and unrepairable faults. In practice the panel is rarely swapped, what usually happens is that the broken screen tv donates its inner workings to a tv with a good panel and outer casing but with serious electronic faults (usually due to liquid damage). The panel only ever gets swapped over if the outer casing to the tv is cosmetically unacceptable.

There are 2 screens for this set, a protective (outer) screen and a fresnel (inner) screen. Which one needs to be replaced?

Where can I get a replacement plactic screen cover

This set has 3 screens---the outer one is really only for glare--clear plexigalss--no longer available from Sony.

Sony 4-070-602-01
SCREEN, FRESNEL Sony 4-064-343-11
SCREEN, LENTICULAR Sony 4-058-894-11
SCREEN, PROTECTION (CONTRAST)Outer one is (Contrast) the other two inner ones are showing as available and about 180 each.

You would have to either have someone dismantle or do it yourself---most of these sets you have to remove all three screens from the rear of the set---then remove the outer contrast one if it is scratched or cracked--

If you get it out and measure it: It is possible you may be able to find a company who can cut you a plexi-glass piece to replace it with--lots of work to do this and you have to use extreme care when you remove the two inner screens--easy to damage them---Usually the inner two are taped along all the edges to keep dust etc from getting between them and the front one is a short distance forward of them.

The front protective screen is really only there for glare and to protect the inner screens from damage---I have seen people who had a cracked outer one just dismantle and remove that one---put the others back and use the set that way---have to be careful as the inner screens are easy to scratch or damage with the outer one removed.

Also---I have seen several where someone removed the outer one and got a piece of plexi glass big enough to put on the outside of the front of the set---secured all around the edges with velcro--does not look as good as the original but prevents glare and protects the inner screens.

If this told you something you did not know or helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Broken screen

Sorry to say the LCD panel is broken. Average cost, of just the panel, will be around $1000 not including shop charges.

WE HAVE A WALL MOUNTED 46 INCH LCD TV. MY SON HIT THE SCREEN WITH A WII CONTROLLER. THERE WAS AN INITIAL BLACK SPOT. WE NOW HAVE NO PICTURE AT ALL, JUST SOUND. ANY IDEA HOW COSTLY THIS WOULD BE TO REPAIR...

You have a broken LCD panel. The picture finally died, probably because the driver failed trying to drive a cracked panel. I'm sorry to tell you this, but the cost of repairs will exceed what you paid for the TV. Even though this is bad news, I would appreciate a good rating. Sorry about your situation.

47 inch epson t.v.

I will check tomorrow for you and see if one is available if the supplier is open on the 31st. They should be. The outer screen is called the protective screen and it has two more screens behind that. Hope it didn't penetrate that far. The inner screens are far more expensive than the protective screen. I will post prices when I find out and if available or not.
