I have had my Vizio for about 3 years now and at about 2 years I had to do a main board replacement because all the inputs started going out one by one. I had a local TV repair shop replace the main board. Then about 6 months later the sound started to go out one by one. First the HDMI sound went out, then AV sound went out, then optical output sound went out and coax sound went out so now I am left with no sound but the picture on all the inputs still work correctly. I have tried the hard reset and restoring all factory settings but still nothing. Any ideas what it could be? Do these TVs have a separate sound board inside of the TV? Could that be the problem?
No, your video and audio processing should take place on the same main board.
So what does the problem seem like? I've heard others on here have this problem but when the hard reset doesn't work I haven't seen any solution.
I would start with having the power supply voltages checked. The voltages used to process the video and audio comes from the power supply. If the power supply is indeed ok, you are looking at a faulty main board. Where did you get the first main board from? You may try contacting Vizio and see if there is a firmware update that solves this problem, but I think you are dealing with a faulty main board
I'm not sure where the repair shop got the main board from. They told me their dealer that they normally bought from didnt have any in stock and the part came directly from Vizio and the board itself i think was $150 or so, if i remember correctly.. hence why this time around im going to do it myself because i realize how simple it is because when i dropped the tv off at the repair shop, he took it apart right in front of me and i was taking a mental picture of what to do. Do you know of any where i could purchase a new main board for this model?
There are several different variations of the main board. You will need to locate the board you need. I would recommend you visit Shopjimmy.com to match up the exact part# you need. If shopjimmy doesn't have em, you can try retechtvparts.com or Ebay. It appears that this set is plagued with main board failures. There is a known issue with a Eprom chip on many of those boards!
