My Tom Tom never gets a valid Satelite signal just keeps on searching.

  • Anonymous Feb 28, 2009

i'll turn mine on and it will have the arrow on the same street i was on last when the signal was lost. after driving around for about 10 minutes and getting lost- it finally comes on! it always says "turn right-" whenever it comes back, but stops mid-sentence. it has absolutely no signal at my house or around it >:|

I HAVE THIS PROB BUT RESETTING IT HAS NOT WORKED?

  • ausbobdown May 11, 2010

    Has it worked before?
    How long ago?
Did you try turning it off and then turning it back on again?
Have you updated the satellite positions when connected to your PC?

I have a Tom Tom One N14644 Ver 8.014 that displays "No valid GPS signal". I used the GPS to get to an address the other night, and now it gives me a map, screen choices, but says waiting for valid GPS...

Same here. I just finished updating software and it still can't get a signal. Could it be something with the TOM TOM satellite network?

I have the same unit and version as you. I notice the problem started yesterday at about 5:00 EST

Tom Tom sat nav takes ages to get a GPS signal now.

Think I have sorted the problem out. I read some of your readers' solutions and it was mentioned that it may be advisable to log onto the GPS update. So, I installed my disc which came with the pack and followed the instructions to download the GPS update (and also took the opportunity to download other updates which took some time). Anyway, used the sat nav this morning and so far, it appears to be working normally now and the signal comes on in seconds!

Frozen/ always says waiting on valid gps signal

The same thing happened to my tomtom and this is how I resolved it. I turned the tomtom off and when I turned it on I held the power button; the screen turned completely green and when I removed the car adaptor the screen went blank. When I turned it back on it found the satellites in under a minute.

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers

No GPS signal?

I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory settings.
