If you do not have Vcast, only MP3 files can be read by the phone. Also, make sure that the files are in the proper directory. My a950 requires that the MP3 files be located in 'MY_MP3S' directory (without quotes).
What operating system do you have? if Windows XP then it will probably install the driver by itself, if other os, then you will have to install the driver on your own.

I have to tell you that swapping LCD screens are pretty hard especially for phones that you have to open up like this one.
Just take the screen to some Cellphone store they might be able to do it.
