HOW TO INSURE OIL RETURN TO THE COMPRESSOR WHEN INSTALLING A/C UNITS

If the location of the condenser is above evaporator install oil trap to insure the oil return to the compressor. This is applicable to suction pipe only, and piping size should be in the standard size as per unit design.

Air conditioner in 1999 mercury tracer won't work. It's not the compressor nor does it have a leak. what could be the problem?

the tracer is the same as the ESCORT, right?? TRY THIS--I WORK ON PLENTY OF ESCORTS--LOOK UNDER THE AIR CLEANER/CONE ASSEMBLY--THERE WILL BE A BLACK METAL BOX(FULL OF RELAYS) ONE OF WHICH IS THE A/C RELAY--TRY TAPPING ON IT WITH A LONG SCREWDRIVER OR SOMETHING SIMILAR WHILE U HAVE THE A/C ON. IF THE A/C SUDDENLY STARTS WORKING U NEED TO GET A NEW RELAY BOX(I THINK ITS CALLED A GEM MODULE) i do have a question- does the blower motor work?? how do u know the compressor is good??do you have 12 volts going to it??? this relay box is pretty common to go bad--u have to remove the air cleaner in order to get to it.get back to me.

Reason for inverted suction line above the evaporator

To keep the freon from flowing back into the compressor, flooding the coil and washing the oil off the rings in the compressor.

is the split ac will function if the distanc is more than 70feet

generally speaking yes, the linesets may have to be sized larger, and depending on location and oil trap may need to be installed to insure oil return to the compressor. There should be line sizing charts in the installation instructions.

oil trap for 2 ton split unit

Pipe size is okay, not that I know any better than the manufacturer, but I would recommend at least two and possibly even three oil traps in the vapor line on the way back up.
