Connecting new Sony DVD player to a TV, VCR, & Comcast cable box

Cannot get a new Sony DVD player to play in a set up in which a Comcast cable connection runs through a cable receiver box connected to a Magnavox VCR connected to a Magnavox TV. It doesn't matter which device the DVD player is plugged in to, no image or sound is produced by the DVD player. Any suggestions?

What do I need to connect an old TV with only one output on back to a TWC cable box, DVD Player, VCR and a Play Station?

Just connect the PS3 it also works as a DVD player. Do you really need a VCR player? You can get a converter box to stream the VCR footage through the DVD player/ PS3

Do I need to throw out my GoVideo because it is not digital. Comcast recently went all digital and I cannot get any response on my VCR. Channel 3's view stays consistance from the TV Channel and doesn't...

Not if the unit itself still works; that is, it still plays videotapes and DVDs (with picture and sound).

Check your TV, you may have the wrong input selected for your unit (and/or other connected devices), or the TV is on the wrong channel; hence why you can't see anything from the VCR.

As for the ComCast box, give them a call and ask about it - quote the box number, and ask if it is digital or analogue - if it is the latter, they should replace the box free of charge as part of your cable subscription.

You do not need a new combo unit, unless you want one later which has a digital tuner. All it means is that you have no analogue TV channels in your combo unit.

TRYING TO INSTALL DIGITAL SET-TOP BOX WITH DVD AND TV

Hi ccraigo
To answer your question;
Your motorola will connect directly(not through the dvd) to the tv set into one of the input ,(preferably using hdmi or component cables for hd) and the dvd will use a different input,
All you have to do then is switch between which one you want to watch.
Hope this help Cheers

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

Only dvd plays properly but vhs will not show picture.

Most likely you have the dvd part connected through component or svideo cables. Despite the fact that this is one unit, like other vcr/dvd combo units it acts as two separate units in the same box. The vcr will probably not play through those cables. As you have audio coming through I'd imagine that the audio is connected using red and white composite cable. Connect the video on the vcr side with composite yellow cable or run direct to tv with a coaxial cable.

DVD/VCR Combo

your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)

Can't get picture on TV.

If you were using RCA cables, you may have had them hooked up wrong. I know this may sound like an easy fix, but I still hook them up wrong from time to time. Especially if there are more than one set of RCA hook-ups on the back of the unit. If you were using a S-video cable you shouldn't have to use RCA cables, if you had both hooked up that could cause your DVD/VCR unit to not work properly and only get a partial feed to the TV. I hope this helps a little. Good luck.

GO VIDEO DV2150

you can try going from the wall to the dvd/vcr first then to the cable box then to the TV. It may find the channels but they might not be in the order you usually wouls see them i.e chan 4 may be chan 34 etc. this will only work on an analog connection, if you have digital cable box it will not work. other than that, you have to control everythng from the cable box and the dvd remains on chan 3 at all times.
