Need remote for RDR-VX500. Have 2 remotes that might be made to w

I have a DVD sony recorder model RDR-VX500 which came without a remote control (clearance sale). I have 2 remotes from sony: 1) RMT-D224A for a newer DVD recorder and 2) a universal remote RM-V402. Although I would prefer to use the first remote, is there any way I can use either for the RDR-VX500? Thanks for any help!

I accidentally set my Sony RDR-HX720 remote control setting to DVD 1 while I was reconfiguring various settings on it, and found out to my horror that the damn remote effectively died! - with no way to...

while pressing 'ENTER' on your remote, press and hold down the number '3' key for approx 4 seconds and then it should work.
the same process goes for 'DVD 1' and 'DVD 2' depending on the remote setting on the recorder.
there is no need to point the remote at the recorder when doing the above as it is only the remote itself that is being programmed.

hope this helps.

Command mode change disabled remote

According to Sony, if you turn the power on and hold the Enter key and the #1 key down together for at least 3 seconds, everything will default back to factory settings.
