Blue stripe down center of screen

We recently purchased a 40 inch flat screen tv (sony), it was working fine but has all of a sudden developed what looks like a flourescent bluish stripe down the center of the screen. What is this? same issue - blue stripe down center of screen.  I've had the tv for 2 years and it's been used probably 6 times.  I'll never buy insignia again.

Its unfortunately a bad LCD panel. Even though the warranties for these TVs has expired, you should contact the manufacturer because there may be a hidden warranty ( when a manufacturer knows of an issue with a limited number of TVs and decides to quietly take care of those consumers who contact them.)

Be prepared for some resistance from the first person you speak with. Persistance pays off when dealing with the customer relations dept.s of large corporations.

after changing the lamp, I still had the same problem as you. I contacted sony and they offered me a brand new 40 inch bravia flat screen tv replacement...at no cost! If I chose a 46" or 55" there would be a charge between $325

My SOny Bravia 40 inch LCD TV has a vertical line

Hi,

It could be 1 of 4 things:
1. One of the ribbon cables has worked itself loose (Simple Fix)
2. One of the assembly boards maybe faulty
3. The driver board which feeds the panel maybe faulty
4. The panel is faulty

The driver board in the UK costs approx £70 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.

All other parts are between £80-160 and approx £35-70 to fit it if this is the fault.

The panel will cost approx 50-75% of what the TV was worth when you bought it - "Repair versus Replacement"

Thanks

Blue stripe down center of screen

Is this a tube television? If so, sounds like the flyback transformer is dead. Take it to the service depot FOR AN ESTIMATE!!!! It's probably cheaper to buy a new TV then repair the transformer.
