Hi Jon, The problem is easy to solve, so here goes: vox indicates that your unit is set to work via the microphone(if you have one), and is activated when you start to speak, (hence vox=voice activated microphone), if you don't have the microphone that came with the unit, you will need to buy/borrow one and connect it to the unit, before you can turn off vox, so that the unit can work with or without the microphone(vox will no longer show), once you have done this. I hope this helps.

hey had the same problem with my 015sx no sound from internal or external speaker... long story short after much playing i found the VOX was on (whatever that is) i pushed the menu button and it showed VOX 8 i moved that till it was off and everthing came good
What does the VOX switch do? When the VOX function is active, both the LCD screen & Audio turn off and will automatically reactivate when there is noise in the room being monitored (e.g. baby crying). This feature is useful at night so the light coming from the screen doesn't bother you and also when running the MobiCam Ultra receiver on batteries since it will extend the life of the batteries. Note: The VOX function will not work when batteries are low and you cannot change channels on the receiver in the VOX mode
That's not a fault - that's the way it works in VOX mode. VOX means it only plays when it hears a sound on the camera end, and goes into a lower-power standby mode when nothing is happening.
Turn off the VOX (Menu -> picture of a guy talking -> turn all the way down) to have it constantly transmit.
Personally, my wife and I like the VOX all the way up. It keeps us from having to check at every peep and squawk, but does let us know when crying is going on.

First, enter the menu and go to VOX. Then try to use the down arrow. As soon as on the screen apears OF press SEL 3 more times then your VOX should be off. Sorry for inconvenience but I don't know English verry good.
On the right-hand side of the unit, there are two buttons with on/off positions. Both the Speaker and VOX options should be in the off position. When VOX is turned on, it only records when it monitors a level of noise. I do not have it turned on ever.
Determine if this is a VOX problem or a headset problem.
Turn off the VOX. Does the headset work for normal transmit and receive?
Remove the headsets. Do the radios work normally on speaker?
Plug one headset in And test with the (other) radio in speaker mode. Does it work? Now turn on VOX in this mode (yes it will work this way). Does vox work (put you mouth right on the mic)
If so swap headsets and try the other.
If one Hset works but not the other its the headset. If neither works its likely the radio ..but before you decide try the same headset experiment on the other radio. Find out which of the 4 devices the problem follows.
