Charge/in use light started blinking about one week ago. Handset indicates "new voicemail" . Cannot get voicemail or stop light from blinking
You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

What worked for me was to call my phone from another phone and leave myself a voicemail. I then went in and retrieved and deleted that voicemail. Once I hung up from my voicemail service my handsets reset about 10 seconds later.

I had the same problem. Once I read the owners manual I found the charge light blinks to indicate that you have voicemail waiting to be retrieved via telecom provider. Much to my surprise I have a voicemail account I never requested.
Another mystery solved - I now know why I missed so many messages.

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.

Please note that if you have a wireless router for you computer in you house, it will definitly interfier with the 27911's registration process. Make sure you shut you wireless router first, before you try to register to the base (27909) unit. That worked for me.
