F and P washing machine MW058U- water comes in very, very slowly

Water comes in to the machine very, very slowly. But comes in twice as fast on hot compared to cold (but still very slowly). Water entry stops at 'low'. 'medium' etc. Have continuity in solenoid/valve. Thanks - Noel.

SOURCE: washing machine no cold water

chnge your water valve or your cold water hose. something could be blocking up your hose. also when you ask machine for cold water does the machine hum? if so check to see if cold water is on. if the water is on then replace your water valve.

SOURCE: Fisher and Paykel Smartdrive 053 Hot Water filling very slowly

Hi Greg. If I may be candid here? As a technician with years of daily experience repairing appliances, I would advise you and anyone else who happens across this post to take my advice and NEVER, EVER try and "clean" or take apart a water inlet valve in order to try to save a few bucks, When it works, sure, you feel good about how you've saved some money. The problem is, sometimes tiny particles get past the diaphragm and you can end up with a major flood situation if it sticks open. I've seen this too many times and I am here to tell you that damage that can be done to a home, especially one with an up-stairs laundry room with no floor drain can run into the thousands of dollars, all because somebody wanted to save the cost of a water inlet valve.

Just replace the valve. In fact, on machines where there are separate hot and cold, if we go out on a job where one is faulty, I tell the customer we should change them both as a set.

Your question is posted under the IWL12 series, so the part number for the hot water inlet valve is a 420237P. You can get them here:

http://fisherpaykelparts.net/index.php?categoryid=111&productid=34

I hope my candor is not taken wrong, but don't go the cheapo route here, this can turn into a HUGE mess, you can't exaggerate this point. I have seen where people dismiss this advice and end up with a caved-in celing in the room below the laundry after the solenoid sticks open and they happen to be out shopping or walking the dog as the washer keeps filling and filling and filling and... well, I think I made my point. :)

SOURCE: Smart drive washing machine not filling properly?

There is a valve under the top of the cover were the bowl is This valve has a spring in it and this spring and valve can get stuck shut this stopping the speed of the water entering the machine it may stop it all together

You are better off swapping the valves over in the machine until you can buy a replacement valve. I've done this for a month or so until I replaced the valve. Works as long as you only use a cold wash and your cold water is not too cold as to make the machine want to add some hot. If it does this then simply press start to clear the fault.

Cold water valve?

Replace the inlet valve. This is a common fault easily fixed with a new valve.

The water fills very slowly on rinse

You probably have a cold inlet valve with restricted flow, either because the filter on the inlet valve is clogged or because the cold valve is failing......If you wash on "warm" you have both hot and cold water mixed. On rinse there is probably only cold water used....Check water flow for HOT and COLD settings and you'll probably see the difference...Good luck...Nomess

MAchine fills slowly. Have cleaned the screens.

Check the solenoid. You can swap the hot and cold water hoses and set the wash for hot but cold will come out. Then you can see if the flow is better. If it is the cold valve isn't opening all the way.

How can I disconnect the auto temp control on a whirlpool washer so my wife can wash with straight hot water?

There are no short cuts to auto temp control. To bypass you would need to change the wiring harness and control panel to mod to a lower end washer.
To do that would cost big bucks.

My GWL10 fills really slowly. It starts fine with the hot water, then slows to a trickle when it switches to cold but it doesn't seem to affect it if I change the temperature selection. I normally leave it...

sounds like you have a restriction on the cold water water pipe kinked or a blockage turn off cold water and remove pipe from cold tap then turn tap on and see if water is coming through fast enough if it is then the restriction is in the hose or valve on washing machine if not then the restriction is in the cold water tap
