Resetting the margins on a manual typewriter.

I just bought what i'm fairly certain is a Royal Safari manual typewriter. When i press the MAR. REL button it lets me change the margin on the left side, but it wont go past the center of it going towards the right. How do i reset the margins on both sides?

I can't be for sure if these are auto set margins, but it sounds like they might be. If they are, first move the carriage as far to the right as you can. Hold the Left Margin Set (not Margin Release) lever as you move the carriage all the way to the left. Release the Margin Set Button or Lever. Now hold the Right Margin Set Button or Lever (not the Margin Release), and move the carriage all the way to the right while holding the Margin Set. Once the carriage is all the way to the right, release the Margin Set. Move the carriage to the place you want to set your left margin. Hit the Left Margin Set and then release. Move the carriage to where you want to set the right margin. Hit the Right Margin Set and release it. It gets confusing, but Margin Release does not set margins. Its sole purpose is only to bypass the margins. Hope this helps.

Hi:

to reset the left margin press the Mar Rel key on the left side of the keyboard once. Either space or backspace to the point where you want to reset the margin and press the Left Mar key once. To set the right margin just space to the point where you want to reset it and press the Right Mar key once.

How to set margins

after hitting the return key, the carrier goes all the way to the left margin. If you need the margin to move even more to the left, hit the margin rel key and backspace to the desired position and hit the mar left key. Same for the right margin, use the space bar to move the carrier all the way to the right margin and press the margin rel and move the carrier to the desired position and press the mar right key.

Reset Margins

on the upper L.H. side of the key board ther is a button marked MAR REL. turn typ. on press the return key then press the MAR REL key back space to move the carrier backwards or space bar to go forwords. when you are at the spot you need to be fined the button that reads L MRG. press it know your left hand margin is set,

know space the carrier over to the left by the space bar if it stops befor you whant it to press the MAR REL button space to where you whant.

now you have another button saying L MAR
