H20 supply is turned off, h20 valves are bad, or the timer is bad. if water is turned on, replace water valve, but first check to make sure power to water valves, if power is present, replace water valve, if not, replace timer.
Definately sounds like the belt is off. Not too big of a problem for small hands mechanics. Usual problem lately with Maytag is the spindle pulley. For some reason they haven't been tightened properly and the pulley and belts are falling off. Pull it out from the wall remove the panel and see what you've got, really simple on the bottom end. Complicated stuff is up in the control panel. Make sure you get the pulleys lined up as close to level as you can or the belt will jump off on you during spin cycles. Good Luck!
Removing the top cover of the dryer, you will find, in the front right, the machine electronic control board with a burned resistor. This resistor burns up when the washer lock motor fails. The lock motor and control board will need replacing. Parts cost will be around $220.00.
Take the belt off the transmission pulley and see if you can turn it by hand. It will agitate on direction and spin when you turn it the other direction.
Put the timer to spin with the belt off and see if the motor will run. There may be a problem in the start switch on the motor letting it start in one direction but not in the reverse direction.
Special tools are required to remove the transmission and brake assembelies. You also want to make sure there is nothing sticking through the holes in the basket causing it to lock up such as a nail or screw that may have been left in a pocket.
Post back with what you find.
Thanks/Mike
