Sounds like its starving of fuel, start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, if no better richen up the H screw on the carb by 1/8 turn out and try again.
th sorry th at answe dont make any sence considering he said it wont run when he touches gas.. how is he going to keep it reving if it stalla as soon as he touches the gas?????
I would locate and clean or replace air filter and check air vent in gas cap. If it gets plugged up it will cause a vacumn to be drawn in gas tank and starve engine of fuel. Thank you.
possible blocked fuel filter or fuel pump not supplying enough fuel (starving) check fuel pressure with pressure gauge
also blocked exhaust or cataletic convertor can cause same issue
When was the last time you had your fuel filter replaced ?? Sounds like the engine may be starved for gas because of a clogged fuel filter. If you have no record of having been replaced, this may be the least expensive place to begin, but be careful the quick disconnects on the fuel filter can be difficult to push in. Also, the fuel lines will be pressurized when they are disconnected, and could spray gas into your face if your not careful. If you damage the disconnects on the fuel lines you will need to have the lines replaced, so be gentle.
i would start at the tank and work your way to the carb looking for blackages in the petcock, fuel line ETC.
PUll the line directly at the carbs first, if you aren't getting fuel to there..work your way backwards to the tank check the line.
If you are getting fuel to the carbs, pulls them off, flip them over..take the bowl covers off..and clean inside eachn one real good..making sure all the jets are not clogged up.
This has happened all of a sudden? It is sounding like it is starving for fuel...
First we will check for bad fuel. A GOOD Gasline Antifreeze can get the impurities and water out of the Gas. Get a bottle and pour the whole thing in the gas tank, bounce the car around to mix it with the fuel. Start it and let it run for a little while so see if it smooths out. If does not help then look at replacing the fuel filter as it may be clogged.
