The TV works well EXCEPT for HDMI 1 port, which is dead.. The HDMI 2 works correctly. A nearby lightning strike hit the coax cable and fried a part on the cable. I talked to the Comcast technician who was working on the cable to fix it. Is the HDMI 1 circuit board in the TV a user replaceable part, and if yes, how much does it cost? If it is a simple matter of pulling out the old circuit board and inserting a new one, I can handle that job. [email protected]

Installing a new software update will this issue. All you need is a compatible USB flash drive. Go to support on Sony.com. Look up your tv model and if there is an update, just follow the instructions to install it yourself. I have a KDL-46S5100 and this worked great. The download and instructions page I used was : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=4769#install

I had this tv for almost a year, and I experienced this exact same problem about 3 or 4 times. The only thing you can do is turn the tv off and unplug it for a couple minutes. When you plug it back in it will work. This issue along with the intermittent sound issue on HDMI fed sources drove me crazy until I exchanged my tv for a KDL-52EX700. So glad to be done dealing with Sony customer support...because they're TERRIBLE. I had to email a VP at sony to get any results. The picture is beautiful on the V5100 for a lcd, but it's not worth dealing with the other issues...it's a flawed model. Hopefully your tv is still under warranty...you will have to call Sony and tell them your problem. They'll send a tech to come out, and he'll probably change out the motherboard..it won't fix anything. Then they'll probably send a tech out again to do the same thing when you keep calling...eventually they'll offer you an exchange. That's how it went for me...it was a 7 month nightmare.
