Using Sony Acid Music Studio 9.0 and making any changes even as simple as muting a track will cause the program to stop responding and lock up forcing me to close the program. This malfunction will repeat itself continuously. I have doubled the RAM in my computer and still have the same problem. Any ideas?

In further investigation the program works perfectly using factory loops but will fail every time using audio tracks that I recorded.

Uninstall the software. Reboot and re-install the program. During the re-install if prompted to discard all setups press yes. Try to have a clean re-install.

You can use the Task Manager in Windows to view computer resources and memory usage if you suspect something dealing with resources.

SOURCE: I have a Fostex DMT-8vl 8 track digital recorder.

You can copy. You cannot just dump the file data. Unless you have an audio interface with multiple inputs, you can only copy 2 tracks at a time. Also, to sync the timing you'll need a midi port on the computer. Then you make the computer the "master" and the Fostex a "slave" device.

SOURCE: using acid studio 8 on toshiba satelite, and every now and then acid stops working and i have to restart.

Depending how much ram you have may be the issue, if the memory tanks out it gets dumpted into the hard drive causing a slow down in memory performance which would explain the program not running. There are couple things you can try, limit some applications from starting up, or better still increase the ram memory.

Not sure if you'll can get a free version of Sony Music Studio 9 (The newest version), I got mine for $26 bucks, from Sony when it was first released. It costs around $70 now. I think I've pressed something whilst mixing on my Acid Pro 7 program, and now theres no sound at all. The tracks aren't muted but there's just nothing coming out. I can hear everything else though e.g....

Maybe you pressed on the "Mute and Lock" switch.
It should be one of the switches here:

I'm not sure which one is it, though... The only Sony programs I use is SoundForge and Vegas...

Drums for MIDI track to not work

I haven't ever used this program but it sounds like you have your MIDI channel assigned to the wrong number. The default MIDI channel for drums is channel 10. Assign the track you are trying to play drums from to channel 10 in your program.
