Running Windows 7, I get a NTLDR is missing error after flashing the UEFI BIOS. I know that Win7 doesn't use NTLDR and I'm not dual booting XP (clean install of Win7). I believe it to be a motherboard issue, since I have previously fixed the same error message with a BIOS update. But I can't roll back to an earlier BIOS version. The flash utility (both built-in and from the Gigabyte Web site) won't recognize the older file. Any suggestions or is the MB hosed? Thanks

pull the bios battery for a few minutes and reinsert it , see if it comes back on.

Please disable "BIOS Flash Protection" function in the BIOS or by Jumper. About the details, please refer to your motherboard manual.
refer to page 22 of THIS manual
If you "search" the word "flash" there are many references that may be of assistance if the jumper does not resolve issue for you

DFI is the board manufacturer. They may or may not offer support since this is a really old board by computer standards. Hope this helps.

move the sata connection for your bootable HDD to another port like 3 or 4 and the bios will detect then run bios setup to boot from the sata 3 or 4 and it works like normal, must be a bug in sata 1 and 2. had same issue trying to install win7 x64. Win 7 refuses to detect sata DVD drive, moved it on the MB and it installed fine.
Applies to: Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP
SymptomsWhen you start your computer, you receive the error message "NTLDR is missing. Press any key to restart."
CauseThe error message "NTLDR is missing" means that the Windows boot loader (NT Loader, NTLDR) cannot be found. This oftenoccurs when the computer tries to boot from a drive other than the one Windows is installed on, due to a change in the driveconfiguration or because you left a bootable disk in a removable drive. But it may also be because the NTLDR file has beencorrupted or deleted.
SolutionCheck the boot drivesFirst, check the boot drives to make sure that the computer is not trying to boot from a different drive to the one thatcontains Windows.
If this does not resolve the problem, you will have to repair the NT boot loader.
Fix NTLDRThe easiest way to fix the "NTLDR is missing" error is to use Spotmau PowerSuite. However, if your computer is using Windows XP and you have a Windows XP installation CD you may be able to boot from this anduse the Recovery Console to fix NTLDR manually instead.
Use Spotmau PowerSuiteInsert the Spotmau PowerSuite CD and start the computer. The main menu will appear. The tool will repair the file and report "NTLDR and NTDETECT have been recovered successfully."
