2035, 2032 can be bought from any super market or hardware store. Need to open the PC, locate the battery, which is normally clipped to the mother board. Use a small screw driver and lift out. If battery is soldered to the mother board then need to access under the board and de-solder carefully without damaging the tracks.

When I reboot the PC the display doesnt come back on. To get around the error, I can clear the CMOS by Shorting Bat jumper, then loading optimized settings by hitting F2. But it wont restart if I try and...

Your BIOS settings are not corrupted. The CMOS cell is not memorizing your settings after you reboot it. So you must change the CMOS battery. My humble request to buy a qualitative CMOS battery so that battery can work as guarantee. Thanks for using FixYa.

How to reset cmos or bios

Hello Friend,

There are a few ways.
The easiest way is to enter the BIOS setup screen, and select the option to reset to default settings, it should be easy to find or it would be on the save changes sections.

If you can not access the BIOS setup screen, it will take physical access to the computer's motherboard. This means you will need to open up the computer case. From here there are a few options that you can do.
change the the CMOS jumper to reset.
Press the CMOS reset buttion
Or remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes.
Please note that not all manufacturer have a jumper setting or cmos reset button. Also a CMOS battery looks like a button battery.
Also if you are going to open up the case, make sure the computer is off, unplugged, and if this is a laptop the battery must be removed. Good Luck!

My date keeps changing each time i reboot my computor and have to keep restting the settings where can i find the cmos battery and change it as been told it could be this as the rest of computor is fine...

the cmos battery will most likely be a 3volt coin cell battery. it has a part number of CR2032. 90% of all pc's use this battery as the cmos battery and can be purchased just about anywhere. here are some pictures of the battery although it can be in a different location on your particular motherboard.

you need to change your cmos cell on motherbord circuit for that open back side cover and then you can see cmos cell on motherbord circuit.Change it pur chase new cmos cell.
Your old cmos cell has not enough waltage so your bios settings are not saved when you turn off the power.

CMOS Battery do no work

Just change your CMOS battery with a new one and after that goto the bios settings and update the time and dare.
After that just save the settings and then check that the warning message is coming or not.

If its coming then it means you need to change the CMOS jumper settings.
