Akai lct3201ad red standby light turns green then red again!

This problem started out with tv shutting down after operation for a time then if left to sit for a while would turn back on.
Now it wont turn on at all red standby light comes on an when switched on turns green for a second then back to red.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated with the economy like it is money is tight and a new tv now is not gonna be possible. Thanks Phil Z in Baltimore

Akai tv/dvd combo LCT3201ad 32" auto-shutoff or turns off after 3-5 seconds after being turned on.

Change input device to some other like a DVD player and see.
Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.

My LCT3201AD is plugged in and the standby light under the screen is on (red LED). Repeated attempts using both remote and side Standby/Power switch result in the LED turning green for only a few seconds...

Remove the power supply and replace the three (3) capacitors soldered to it. They will be rated at something in the neighbrohood of 16v. Replace them with larger capacitors, something in the neighborhood of 35v.

AKAI LCT3201AD

Find and replace the following caps, Ec18, 19, 20 / 1000uf/16v,
Ec9, 10 / 1000uf/35v, Ec14, 25 / 470uf/35v should resolve the problem. You can get the caps at almost any electronics supply.
This is a common problem in this unit.

Akai LCD TV wont turn on

Hello davidshu,

The issue seems to be a power supply problem. The television has a switching power supply. This might be the problem. I would suggest getting it repaired at a television repair shop due to the possible complexity of the work that needs to be done.
